| Patricia Hammond LLAM, PGCA, Hon FLAM
Patricia Hammond has been a teacher of speech, drama and theatre studies since 1968 having established a theatre school with her late husband. She transferred ownership of the school to an ex-student several years ago. Many of her students have worked professionally in theatre, television, film and radio appearing in numerous productions in Europe, London and the provinces including The National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. 17 ex-students have now opened their own schools of performing arts both in the UK and overseas.
She has been examining and adjudicating for very many years and has travelled frequently for The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Lamda) Her work has taken her to all parts of the British Isles, Kenya, California, Singapore, Ireland, South Africa,Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. She is an adjudicator member of the British and International Federation of Festivals. Patricia has provided demonstration classes and Master Classes in Verse Speaking and devised performance at LAMDA McCowan Theatre and has co-written with Alison Muir a book entitled 'Mime and Improvisation' published by Lamda/Oberon Books and is currently writing another book. She is actively involved in community arts and serves on a number of consultative panels relating to conservation, arts projects and animal welfare serving also as Drama Officer for Bromley Arts Council.
She is very much looking forward to her second visit to Oundle.

Michael is an 'Honours' Graduate of the Northern School of Music, Manchester, and has a Clarinet Diploma from the Trinity College of Music London. The Diploma in Education was gained at Leeds University. He continued post graduate studies in London with Jack Brymer and at the Paris Conservatoire with Guy Deplus. Further studies include an MA in the Psychology of Performance in Music which is ongoing. He played professionally with the BBC Northern Symphony Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the English Philharmonic Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata. Playing experience also encompassed jazz, sessions with Joe Loss, shows and cabaret. He was also band leader and worked in radio and television.
Michael was a member of both the National Executive Committee of the 'Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain' and a committee member of the 'Incorporated Society of Musicians'.
In 1997, he joined the Guildhall School of Music Examination Service as an examiner, and was subsequently appointed to the position of Principal Examiner of Woodwind. In January 2003 he joined the Trinity College London as an examiner and presenter whilst continuing his membership on the Guildhall panel. In 2004 was appointed to the Rockschool panel of examiners, where he was engaged in the conduct of examinations and promotional work.
He has travelled to the following countries as an examiner, performer, adjudicator, and presenter:- New Zealand - South Africa - Jordon - Lebanon - USA - Canada - Cyprus – Portugal - Spain - Ireland - Thailand - Malaysia - Hong Kong - India - Sri Lanka - West Indies - Maldives - Singapore - and the United Kingdom.
Michael is a consultant to Trinity Guildhall Examination Board for the development of their Woodwind Syllabus. His recent appointment to the Professional Development panel of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and appointment as Professor of Clarinet for the Royal Air Force, reflects his determination to remain in the forefront of music education and assessment. In March 2011 Michael was elected to serve as Vice-Chairman to the Adjudicators Council of the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music Dance and Speech.

Timothy Barratt studied on a Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, winning many major awards, and completed his studies with Vlado Perlemuter, himself a pupil of Ravel, in Paris and with Geoffrey Parsons. He has toured and broadcast extensively in the UK and abroad as soloist, accompanist and chamber music player. Whilst still a student he developed a special interest in song accompaniment through playing for Masterclasses at Aldeburgh, subsequently partnering such artists as Dame Felicity Lott, Stephen Varcoe and Robert White. In addition, instrumentalists he has worked with include Jack Brymer, Bradley Creswick and Haaken Hardenberger. Teaching forms a major part of his musical life and he enjoys working with pupils of all ages and levels. He is Head of Keyboard at Dulwich College and also teaches at the Royal Academy of Music. He frequently directs Masterclasses and teachers’ workshops, most recently in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia and is a busy Competition and Festival adjudicator.. An ABRSM examiner since 1991, he has been a Trainer of new examiners for many years and was recently appointed Consultant Moderator. Other work for the AB includes co-writing the Board’s Teaching Notes on Piano Exam pieces, presenting Seminars and acting as a mentor on the CT ABRSM Course. |
