Reuben Goldmark was the last pianist to win Oundle Young Musician of the Year in 2015. Do you know someone who could win in 2021?
We have just secured a venue for the 2021 Piano classes, which will take place on Saturday July 10th.
Any competitor who entered M38 in 2020 and now is over age for the 18 yrs & under class should contact info@ofmd.org.uk.
Online entries at www.ofmd.org.uk will be open for three weeks only from Tuesday June 1st. Further details on the website.

It was with great sadness that we learnt today that Nicky Jakeways died at home on Sunday, after a short illness.
Nicky joined the Festival Committee in 1985 and was Drama Secretary for many years until retiring in 2019.
Her support for our young competitors and their teachers was always much appreciated.
We will miss her beautiful verse speaking and ursurpassable readings from the works of Dickens, but most of all her kindness and smile.

Like everyone else we are waiting for the "road map" announcements on May 10th before we can confirm any Festival events in July.

Thinking positively we have booked St. Peter's Church for Saturday November 27th to run some Instrumental and Junior Vocal classes. The Oundle Young Singer and Young Musician of the Year competitions will take place that day.

Our Best Wishes to Vice President Meg Bates celebrating her centenary today. She first entered a solo singing class at the Festival as a 10 year old from Aldwincle School. As a teacher she brought her choirs and instrumental groups from Sudborough and Aldwincle. Meg served on the Committee for many years and was principal organiser from 1970 to 1988. Her most recent entry was bringing her Cranford Singers in 2005. We're not sure of the date of the earlier photo, but ... See more

A happy reminder of the 101st Festival in 2019.
Even though the timing of the 2021 Festival cannot be decided yet, July or October, we are pleased to announce that the 2022 Festival will run from Saturday March 26th to Saturday April 2nd, 2022.
Fingers crossed that Festival 2022 will be our 103rd Festival and not our 102nd!

Happy New Year from the Festival team.
We hope to see you in 2021, when it is warmer and the vaccination programme is well advanced.

As one of the first Festivals to have to cancel due to the pandemic, we were hoping to be one of the first to go ahead in April 2021, but unfortunately this is now highly unlikely.
However, we do have ideas for an event towards the end of the Summer term, vaccines permitting. Watch this space!
