15 months after the cancellation of the 2020 Festival it was wonderful to welcome competitors and their supporters to the 2021 piano classes in Oundle School Chapel this morning.

This Saturday (July 10th) we are holding our first competition of 2021! Eleven young pianists aged 6 to 17 will be competing in five classes adjudicated by local musician Juliet Abrahamson.
The winner of the most senior class will go forward to the Final of our Young Musician of the Year Competition on November 27th.
Come along to Oundle School Chapel at 10.30am on Saturday to support these young performers. (Current Covid19 rules will apply.)

Opening the lunchtime recital series on July 14th is Ayana Shah, winner of the coveted title of Oundle Young Musician of the Year 2019 and currently preparing for the ARSM Diploma on violin, a distinction she has already achieved on piano. Her programme will include Dvořák’s Sonatina, Messaien’s Theme and Variations as well as Beethoven’s Romance in F.

Irena Radic from Peterborough was the first pianist to win Oundle Young Musician of the Year. The piano qualifying class for the 2021 Young Musician competition takes place on Saturday July 10th in Oundle School Chapel.

Online entry for all piano classes is now open until Sunday June 27th at www.ofmd.org.uk where further details can be found.
