Oundle Festival of Music and Drama offers a wide variety of spoken word classes which are always popular. In the Speech section we offer the opportunity to speak and read poetry, Bible passages, prose, humorous verse and more. The Drama Section has classes for solo, duo and group acting. The majority of our performers are of school age (Reception – Year 13), but we have open classes for performers of all ages. We also welcome entries in the following areas:
- Reading Prepared Texts
- Reading at Sight
- Speaking from Memory
- Group Speaking
If you can’t perform in one of our classes, you are still most welcome to be part of the audience – , grandparents, friends, neighbours and anyone else who enjoys seeing talented performers taking to the stage, will be entertained and delighted at the talent the local area has to offer.
In verse speaking class D4 one of the set pieces, chosen from the anthology Happy Poems published by Macmillan, is an extract from the longer poem “The Cataract of Lodore”.
Similarly in D5 an extract from “Blueberries” by Robert Frost has been selected.
If you are using a different anthology you can check the text here.
